We are a volunteer group and not a cemetery company.
If you own a lot at Hillcrest, you may still use it.
We can help with research, records and locating your lots.
We have a number of lots that have been donated to us which will be made available in the near future, once the new board takes office and we can determine the best and proper way to make them available.
Your funeral home will take care of all arrangements normally handled by a cemetery, in consultation with us.
General information for families We are here to help other families: Hillcrest Cemetery Memorial Association is not a licensed dealer of funeral services, though we will assist you in any way we can, at no charge to you. We do not own the cemetery, but we try to provide some of the services and management that families deserve. We assist with about 10–20 burials per year. Some ways we can help in a time of need include:
Assistance with locating and marking pre-purchased grave lots (limited availability on-site).
Facilitating the transfer of lots/spaces that have been donated to us. (We now have a number of lots available in a couple very nice areas.)
Referrals to local service companies (funeral homes, monument companies, etc.) though we do not formally endorse any private companies.
Availability to meet with you or your funeral home representatives on-site (limited availability) or by phone or online to discuss plans.
Whether you would like to request our assistance or not, please contact us to inform us of the interment details so that we may update the cemetery records and to ensure that other services, volunteer events, or mowing schedules do not conflict with yours.
What we can not do: We are not a licensed funeral services practitioner so we can not sell original lots, though we do have a number of lots that have been donated to us that are available. Your selected funeral home or similar company can provide opening, closing, vaults, monuments, grave-specific after care (leveling and seed or sod), legal advice, etc. Please let them know about us and we will work with them as much as possible to keep the process seamless. We are not an owner or legal agent of the cemetery, and therefore have no legal link to any agreements that may have been made with the owners and/or Hillcrest Memorial Park, Inc. or other previous entities.
Aftercare: Commercial cemeteries usually provide services after burial, such as disposing of funeral flowers after some time has passed, leveling the ground after settling, and planting grass of the same type that is in the area. Our organization is not able to provide these services at this time, as we have to focus our limited resources on the larger projects that serve many. Please consider having your funeral home arrange for aftercare services at an appropriate time, or to return in a couple of months for a family project to tend the site.
Donations: HCMA is a maintenance association funded through donations. If you would like to contribute to the maintenance fund, please visit our donations page. No direct services are rendered by our association in exchange for donations. We are a 505(c)(13) organization. Donations to our general fund are tax deductible. For details on our non-profit status, please see About Us.
We invite you to consider our organization as an "in lieu of flowers" contributions recipient, or in your other final financial arrangements.
