Layout of Section 4
Section 4 is bordered on the east by the long roadway that cuts through most of the cemetery, on the west by Stanton Road, on the north by a rough driveway (and Block X of Section 5), and on the south by the second most southerly entrance driveway. The main entrance driveway (labeled as entry D on our main aerial map), with the Hillcrest Veterans Memorial Wall at the end of it, cuts through the middle of Section 4, with blocks 7–14 south of it and 15–25 to the north of it.
Most lots in Section 4 are 4 graves wide, but some are 6 wide. Space numbers within lots in this section begin at the grassy or concrete walkway between each block, So in the diagram below, the space numbers for most lots are as follows:
Walkway - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 | 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 - Walkway
A few graves are listed in blocks 1 and 2 of this section, and circumstantial evidence indicates the section once extended into what is now the Circle Section. We believe these graves were renumbered as part of Circle, and that the low numbers came from death certificates that were not updated when the maps were. (This would also explain why Section 4 begins with Lot 7.)
A copy of the original plat map of this section is included below.
